Tab-delimited files have their columns delimited by tabs. CSV files are delimited by commas. Most software is equally happy with either.
You can also now download files for Excel and Gnumeric (two spreadsheet packages) directly.
You can choose to have the file compressed, or as is. Compressed files will be faster to download. Some web browsers will decompress these files automatically.
